No View, The Radio XXXVIII
Watkins/Peacock
Summer Of Love

The duo of electro-acoustic musician Zachary James Watkins and analog-synthesizer expert Ross Peacock works towards conjuring new possibilities of tone, rhythm and light. Influenced by the likes of Dub, Krautrock and experimental pioneers Cluster, Brian Eno and Scientist, their live improvised blend of psychedelic electronica embraces the fragility of analog and digital hardware systems. Watkins/Peacock engage in vibrant patterns over time with an investment in exploration and exchanges.

Their contribution to the series 'Summer of Love' is a perfect example of their approach and musical objectives.
The title of the piece itself, referencing the 1967 U.S. West Coast cultural explosion, hints to notions of their nostalgic choice of instrumentation and free spirited approach to combining composition with improvisation through the use of repetitive, almost hypnotic patterns.

About the series: No View, The Radio
The arts are taking a break. Theaters, museums, concert halls and galleries are closed. To a large extent, the art that is so desperately needed right now is inaccessible. Imagine being quarantined at home without films, without books, without music. Though we may not access the art, we can still think about it. The enforced rupture of this isolation can also be an opportune moment to reflect on and from, the arts. Every Friday for the upcoming weeks we will showcase original musical works by different artists, selected by Alex Andropoulos.
